Dindigul: The driver of a private bus near Palani collapsed due to a heart attack, but the next moment, the bus conductor Wimal recovered and stopped the bus by applying the brakes with his hand, preventing an accident.
However, the driver, Prabhu, collapsed due to a heart attack and died on the spot. The police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
A private bus was travelling from Palani bus stand in Dindigul district to Pudukkottai village. The bus was being driven by driver Prabhu. While the bus was heading towards Pudukkottai, the driver Prabhu suddenly felt a chest pain.
Shortly after, Prabhu fainted while the bus was moving and died. The conductor, Wimal, who was nearby, saw that the driver Prabhu had fainted and acted quickly, pressing the brakes on the bus with his hands and stopping it on the side of the road. As a result, the bus escaped an accident.
When the bus stopped, passengers ran to help the driver Prabhu. But he died. The incident has created a stir when the driver suddenly collapsed due to chest pain while there were passengers in the bus. The police, who received information, went to the scene and registered a case and are investigating.
Speaking to reporters regarding the incident, the conductor said with anguish, "I couldn't help it, Vimal, I said I had a chest pain, and he fell off the steering wheel. I immediately applied the handbrake and stopped the bus, saving many lives. But I couldn't save the driver."
