Armed members of a rival criminal faction invaded the funeral of a suspected gang member in Dias D’Ávila, Bahia, Brazil, opening fire on the coffin and causing panic among mourners.

According to reports, the funeral was being held at a cemetery in the Concórdia neighborhood for a 17-year-old known as “Maquinista,” who was allegedly linked to the Comando Vermelho (CV) faction and had recently died during a shootout with military police. During the burial ceremony, armed rivals believed to be associated with the Bonde do Maluco (BDM) faction stormed the cemetery and fired multiple shots directly at the coffin.

Witnesses described scenes of chaos as family members and others attending the funeral fled for safety while gunfire erupted inside the cemetery. Videos of the attack quickly spread across social media, intensifying concerns over escalating gang violence in the Salvador metropolitan region.
