A 31-year-old man drove a car into a crowd on Via Emilia in the Italian city of Cesenatico, injuring eight people.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. local time. One woman suffered severe leg injuries after both of her legs were crushed, while the remaining victims sustained less serious injuries.

Witnesses at the scene stopped the driver and held him until police arrived. Authorities later arrested the suspect and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Officials have not yet determined whether the act was intentional or the result of another factor, and investigators are continuing to examine the driver's motives and condition.
