On October 11 in Phoenix, Arizona, police officers responded to an apartment where a 47-year-old man, identified as Francisco Aviles Barcenas, was holding a woman at knifepoint with a machete.

Body camera footage shows officers arriving and confronting Barcenas as he restrained the woman near an apartment door. One officer repeatedly ordered him to release her before firing multiple shots.

Barcenas was struck and pronounced dead at the scene. The woman suffered minor injuries and received treatment at the location.

The incident remains under both internal and criminal investigation by the police department.
