Port St. Joe, Fla. — Authorities have released additional details surrounding an officer-involved shooting linked to a series of hit-and-run incidents.

The incident began on Friday, August 15 at approximately 3:42 p.m., when police were alerted to a vehicle, a white Ford Fusion, fleeing the scene of a crash. The vehicle, discovered with an expired temporary tag, was connected to one Tikila Walker. Sergeant Sherrell Morrison initiated an attempted stop but eventually ceased the pursuit.

Later, around 4:19 p.m., a hit-and-run was reported involving the same vehicle. Again, the vehicle was located and Sergeant Morrison engaged with Tikila Walker and a repossession driver, managing to calm the situation.

Shortly after, officers responded to another hit-and-run call at a Sunstop convenience store in Highland View. Walker’s vehicle was reportedly blocked by a repo truck. Additional calls were made to the department reporting reckless driving by Walker.

Around 6:01 p.m., police located the vehicle on Avenue C, where Walker remained inside, armed with a 16-inch filet-style knife. Despite attempts to defuse the situation, Walker refused to relinquish the weapon.

Backup arrived, including a Gulf County Sheriff’s deputy and Officer Allan Edwards. A deputy smashed the car window to deploy a taser—firing it seven times, all to no effect. Walker then brandished the knife and exited the vehicle, charging at Sergeant Morrison. Morrison fired two shots, and Officer Lee fired once.

Walker was wounded twice—once in the upper arm and once in the pelvic region. Officers disarmed Walker and administered lifesaving aid until emergency medical services arrived.

Authorities confirm that body camera footage will be released as the investigation continues.
