Authorities report that on Sunday, during a routine operation to oversee nightclub closures, a man named Luis Manuel Brazoban, known as “Chique Peten,” aged 50, emerged from one of the venues wielding a firearm.

Police ordered him to drop his weapon to avoid escalation, but instead, he refused and threatened to shoot at officers. As he manipulated the weapon, shots were fired in the direction of the police. In response, agents discharged their firearms, resulting in Brazoban’s death.

An acquaintance, identified as Víctor Joel Martínez Arias, attempted to intervene and persuade Brazoban to comply, but was unable to prevent the confrontation.

At the scene, authorities seized a 9 mm Arcus pistol (serial No. 98DAC) along with a magazine and six bullets. Forensic teams collected thirteen spent shell casings and one projectile as part of the investigative evidence.

The case remains under investigation as authorities continue gathering statements and evidence to clarify the circumstances of the incident. The operation was part of broader preventive measures carried out in Santo Domingo Norte to monitor nightlife venues and maintain public order.
