An off-duty military police officer fatally shot a man in Porto Alegre, Brazil, after being attacked in what authorities describe as an act of self-defense.

The incident occurred on the evening of April 11 in the eastern zone of the city. According to police reports, the officer was approached by the man, who allegedly acted aggressively and attempted to assault him.

During the confrontation, the suspect reportedly tried to seize the officer’s firearm while continuing the attack. In response, the officer discharged his weapon, striking the man.

Emergency services were called to the scene, but the suspect died from his injuries before receiving medical assistance.
