A Municipal Civil Guard officer from Santana de Parnaíba shot and killed a suspected criminal during an attempted armed robbery in Osasco, São Paulo, Brazil.

According to authorities, the off-duty officer was driving with his family through the Vila Yolanda neighborhood when multiple suspects on motorcycles attempted to intercept his vehicle and opened fire. The officer reacted immediately, leading to an exchange of gunfire.

During the confrontation, one of the suspects was shot and died at the scene, while another managed to flee on foot and remains at large. Police stated that several nearby homes and walls were struck by bullets during the shootout.

Military Police and Municipal Guard units secured the area while forensic teams collected evidence. The officer and his family were not injured.

Authorities have launched an investigation as efforts continue to identify and locate the remaining suspect.
