An attempted arson attack in Cusco ended when the suspect was set on fire while trying to burn down a motorcycle shop. The incident took place in the early hours of Friday on Huayna Cápac Street, in the Wanchaq district, and was captured by security cameras.

According to reports, the man arrived at the shop on a motorcycle and poured a flammable substance at the entrance before attempting to ignite it. However, the fire quickly spread and engulfed the suspect, forcing him to flee the scene while still on fire.

The attack is believed to be linked to extortion, a practice that has increasingly targeted local businesses in the region. Despite the flames, the suspect managed to escape and had not been arrested at the time of reporting.

Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage and continuing investigations to identify the individual involved and determine whether others may have participated in the attempted arson.
