Hai Phong, Vietnam — A 31-year-old man died after his motorcycle became entangled in a low-hanging electrical cable at a construction site, authorities said.

The incident occurred around 2:10 p.m. on March 30 as the victim was riding from a residential area onto an internal road in the An Duong industrial zone.

According to reports, construction workers were using an excavator to pull an electrical cable across the roadway at the time. The cable was stretched across the road without warning barriers or safety markers, making it difficult for approaching drivers to see.

Police said the motorcyclist did not notice the obstruction and accelerated in an attempt to pass, before becoming caught in the cable. He was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene due to the impact.

Security camera footage showed that while two workers were nearby, they were focused on directing traffic behind the machinery, and no one was monitoring the cable stretched across the road.

Authorities in Hai Phong are coordinating with relevant agencies to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
