A worker was seriously injured after falling while attempting to repair a fault near the Saran Nagar bridge in Jodhpur, when an iron rod pierced his stomach. The incident occurred as a team from the power company was dispatched to address a power outage.

The injured man, identified as Ganesh Prajapat, was working under contract for the local power utility. He climbed a pole to restore service when electricity was unexpectedly restored, causing him to receive an electric shock. As he lost balance, he fell and landed on an exposed iron rod, which penetrated his abdomen.

He was immediately transported to the MGH hospital in critical condition. A police complaint was filed by his brother, accusing officials from the power company and the utility of negligence.

In protest, local residents and family members gathered near the Saran Over Bridge, demanding that Ganesh’s salary continue during his recovery, that he not be dismissed from service, and that the utility company provide full medical care and compensation. Authorities have launched an inquiry into the incident.
