A motorcyclist died and a woman who was riding with him was injured after they were struck by a National Guard truck in Ecatepec, Mexico.

The accident occurred on José López Portillo Avenue near the Guadalupe Victoria neighborhood. According to witness accounts, the motorcycle riders were attempting to make a U-turn at a designated turnaround point and had the right of way. At the same time, the National Guard truck was traveling in the Mexibús dedicated lane, ran a red light, and collided with the motorcycle.

Emergency responders from Civil Protection arrived at the scene and provided aid. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead, and the female passenger was taken to a private hospital with serious injuries.

Municipal police detained the National Guard driver and took him to the Public Ministry for investigation.
