Two municipal guards in Lagarto have been suspended after an approach resulted in a man’s death.

According to municipal authorities, the incident started after a couple reported being assaulted. During the intervention, a man was seriously injured, was immediately taken to the local hospital by the guards, but did not survive the injuries.

An internal investigation has been launched and the guards are being removed from active duty pending further inquiry.
