Police are investigating a murder case after a 29-year-old man was shot and killed on Tuesday morning in what is believed to be a gang-related shooting in Montrose Park, Mitchells Plain.

The incident occurred on Samantha Street at around 9 a.m., near a mosque. CCTV footage reportedly shows the victim walking down the street when a man in a hoodie approached and shot him in the head. Another person then appeared and opened fire repeatedly before the two suspects fled.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi confirmed that the Lentegeur police are investigating the case. Michael Jacobs, chairperson of the Lentegeur Community Policing Forum, said the area has seen multiple shootings and urged the community to come forward with information to help curb illegal gun activity.
