A security camera captured the crime, which also left two people injured.
A new act of violence shook Guayaquil on the night of Saturday, April 4, 2025 , when a crime was reported outside a nightclub located in the twelfth stage of the Alborada neighborhood , north of the city. The victim was identified as Melany Saavedra Charcopa , a 28-year-old woman.
According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred around 11:50 p.m. , when Melany Saavedra arrived with several family members intending to enjoy the evening at a nightclub. As soon as they got out of the vehicle, a gunman approached the group and opened fire without saying a word . At least 12 shots were heard.
The young woman was shot multiple times despite trying to take refuge inside the nightclub.
In addition, two family members were injured during the armed attack and were taken to a nearby hospital , where they are in stable condition, according to medical sources.
A source from the National Police indicated that the crime could be related to a family retaliation .
"The attack is believed to have been carried out by a close relative as part of an internal dispute," he said.
