A 64-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a dump truck at an intersection in Ajax, Ontario, Canada.

According to Durham Regional Police, the collision occurred shortly before 4:00 p.m. when the dump truck was making a right turn from Harwood Avenue South onto Hunt Street. The truck struck the woman as she was in the intersection.

Emergency responders performed life-saving measures at the scene, but the victim was pronounced dead from her injuries.

The driver of the dump truck remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision and are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage to come forward.

Authorities have not released the victim's identity pending notification of her family.
