A 33-year-old man died after collapsing and drowning in a swimming pool at a resort in Rajkot, in the Indian state of Gujarat, in an incident that has raised serious concerns about bystander response during emergencies.

According to reports, the victim, identified as Ajay Rathod, was visiting the resort with his family for a leisure outing. The incident occurred on April 19 at approximately 4 p.m. and was captured on video that later circulated widely online.

Footage shows the man sitting near the edge of the pool before standing up, suddenly collapsing, and falling into the water. It is believed he lost consciousness prior to entering the pool, possibly due to a medical emergency.

Despite the visible distress, several people nearby did not immediately intervene, appearing to assume that he was swimming. The delay in response proved critical, as the man remained submerged for an extended period and ultimately drowned.

Family members later pulled him from the pool and attempted to revive him by administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). He was subsequently taken to a hospital, where he was declared dead.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, including a review of CCTV footage, to determine the exact cause of the collapse and whether any negligence contributed to the fatal outcome.

The case has sparked widespread public debate regarding emergency awareness and the importance of timely intervention in life-threatening situations.
