A female business owner was shot and killed in front of the municipal market in Sanarate, El Progreso, Guatemala, in a daylight attack.

According to emergency responders, the victim was found with multiple gunshot wounds outside the market and was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of her injuries.

Preliminary information indicates that the woman was associated with a well-known Chinese restaurant in the area. Authorities have not released her identity or disclosed a possible motive for the attack.

Officers from the Guatemalan National Civil Police (PNC) secured the scene while prosecutors from the Public Ministry carried out forensic examinations and began collecting evidence. An investigation is underway to identify those responsible and determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
