A 12-year-old boy died after being shot during a violent attack in the La Esmeralda neighborhood of Barranquilla, Colombia. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon when two gunmen riding a motorcycle opened fire inside a local store.

Security camera footage shows the assailants arriving on a black motorcycle and firing indiscriminately toward people inside the establishment. One of the bullets struck the child in the head outside.

Neighbors and bystanders quickly came to the boy’s aid and rushed him to a nearby medical center, but due to the severity of his injuries he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The shooting sparked shock and outrage in the community, with residents describing the event as terrorizing and expressing deep concern about rising violence in the area.

Following the attack, local police implemented a containment operation that led to the arrest of two suspects in the nearby El Bosque neighborhood. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the motive behind the shooting and whether the attack was intended for another target within the store.
