The Sobral Military Police acted swiftly to arrest a suspect involved in the killing of Antônio Felipe Rodrigues Trajano Sousa, which occurred on Wednesday night (22) in front of a gym located in the Junco neighborhood, near the Convention Center.

According to initial reports, the victim was about to get on his motorcycle when he was ambushed by an armed man who fired multiple shots before fleeing the scene. Antônio Felipe died instantly, before medical assistance could arrive.

Security camera footage from the gym captured the suspect near the victim’s motorcycle moments before the shooting, raising the possibility that the attack may have been an attempted robbery. During the search, police officers found a firearm nearby, believed to have been used in the crime.

Following a rapid operation, authorities apprehended the suspect just minutes after the homicide. He was taken to the 2nd Civil Police Station of Sobral, where he remains in custody and at the disposal of the judiciary.

The Civil Police continue to investigate the case to fully clarify the circumstances of the crime and determine whether other individuals were involved or if there were additional motives behind the attack.
