Man charged with murder after fatally shooting 26-year-old inside home in Edinburg - Texas

Edinburg, Texas – A 32-year-old man has been charged with murder following a fatal shooting in rural Edinburg on Sunday night.

Freddy Mireles was arraigned Monday afternoon and issued a $2.5 million bond in connection with the death of 26-year-old Julio Cesar Soto Jr.

Deputies responded at around 9:22 p.m. to the 4500 block of Fe Drive, where Soto was found inside a residence with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to three witnesses, Mireles and Soto had been filmed singing together before Mireles allegedly opened fire. Witnesses said Mireles fled in a red vehicle while carrying an AR-style rifle.

Investigators later located the vehicle and arrested Mireles at his residence without incident.
