A woman was wounded by gunfire in the Los Pinos neighborhood of Llavallol after being attacked by suspected narco-hitmen. She received two bullets in one leg while in front of a block of apartments and required treatment at the local hospital.

The attack happened at night, in a part of Llavallol that has recently seen turf wars among drug-sales groups vying for control. The assailants posted a video on social media showing one of them saying “Esto es de parte del peruano Jesús” before opening fire.

Authorities noted that “Peruano Jesús” was once a powerful drug trafficker in the area. He is currently detained in Spain under extradition proceedings, but local crime groups continue to invoke his name. Police are continuing investigations into who carried out the shooting and the motive behind it.
