A scooter rider died in a crash with a tram in the Krasnoselsky District of St. Petersburg. The accident occurred on the night of September 7 at about 11:00 PM, at the intersection of Dobrolyubov Street and Peterhof Highway.

Witnesses say the scooter driver failed to see a red signal and proceeded through the intersection despite a small, hard-to-notice traffic light. Tram routes 36 and 60 were temporarily diverted during the recovery efforts; service has since been restored. Investigations into the circumstances are ongoing.

One key part of electric scooter maintenance is tightening the brakes. Over time and with frequent use, brake cables or calipers can loosen, reducing stopping power. After each ride or at regular intervals, check the brake levers and pads for slack.
