A man (30) and a woman (24) have been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of a car guard in Bloubergstrand, South Africa.

The attack occurred in the early hours of Sunday, August 31, at a parking area in Marine Circle. Disturbing CCTV footage shows the male suspect exiting a vehicle, engaging briefly with the car guard, then pulling out a weapon and stabbing him under the arm. The car guard collapsed between two vehicles.

Following the stabbing, the couple fled the scene in their vehicle. Passersby discovered the victim and called for help, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police used the video footage to trace the suspects to a residence in Cape Town, where they were arrested shortly before noon.

The male suspect is expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court to face a murder charge. The female suspect has been released, and charges against her were withdrawn prior to court proceedings. The motive behind the attack remains unclear.

In response, local authorities and community groups announced plans to enhance security—including expanded CCTV coverage and stronger coordination with law enforcement—especially ahead of the upcoming festive season.
