On Thursday, August 7, a military police officer was shot in the neck during an operation in the Paraisópolis community in the southern zone of São Paulo.

The operation began after reports of a theft involving three motorcycles in the Chácara Santo Antônio area. During a pursuit, one of the suspects fired at the officer when the chase reached Paraisópolis.

The officer was struck in the neck and immediately taken to the Hospital das Clínicas, where he remains conscious and in stable condition. Initial assessments found that he also suffered a broken vertebra.

The incident is currently under investigation, and police presence in the area has been reinforced.
