ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Security footage has revealed new details about a deadly shooting that occurred early Sunday morning outside the Gaslight Lounge on Fourth Avenue in downtown Anchorage.

The incident left 23-year-old Leroy Manogiamanu dead and several others injured, including one victim with life-threatening injuries and another with non-life-threatening wounds, according to Anchorage Police Department (APD). A fourth injured person was located later.

Surveillance video from the Gaslight Lounge shows that the suspect never entered the bar. Instead, he was confronted outside by the establishment’s security staff before opening fire around 2:50 a.m. Two of the bar’s security guards were shot during the exchange, bar owner John Pattee confirmed.

Pattee stated that a third security guard retrieved a firearm from his vehicle and returned fire, shooting the suspect. “He confronted the guy that was about to shoot other people,” Pattee said. “His actions may have saved lives.”

Pattee also expressed frustration over repeated criminal activity affecting his staff and patrons. “There’s a small group of criminals that are victimizing my clientele, my staff, and my business,” he said. “In this particular instance, we all feel like we’re as much a victim as the two guys who were shot.”

The identity of the suspected shooter has not yet been released. Police are investigating the case as a homicide and have requested that anyone with information or surveillance footage contact Police Dispatch at 311 (option #1) or 907-786-8900 (option #0).
