An armed attack occurred Monday morning at the intersection of Francisco de Paula Moreira and Chile streets, in the heart of Portoviejo. One person sustained a gunshot wound and was immediately taken to a nearby medical center for treatment.

The National Police responded swiftly and have launched an investigation to identify and locate those responsible for the attack.
