A confrontation between the Military Police and a 46-year-old man ended with the death of the suspect in the early hours of last Sunday (23), in Concórdia, in the West of Santa Catarina. The incident occurred around 3:50 am on Gonçalves de Cândido Street, in the Nova Brasília neighborhood.
The police were called to respond to an incident involving the man, who had a criminal record for robbery and illegal possession of a firearm. Upon arriving at the scene, officers saw the suspect armed on the street. Even after being ordered to drop the weapon, he allegedly pointed the weapon at the officers, who responded by shooting.
The man was shot and died at the scene. No police officers were injured. Another individual was also shot in the leg but suffered only minor injuries.
The Scientific Police and the Civil Police were called to carry out the expert analysis, and a Military Police Inquiry was opened to investigate the circumstances of the case.
In total, 25 shots were fired by three police officers: 18 from a .556 caliber rifle, five from a .556 caliber rifle and two from a 9mm pistol.
