The National Police reported on Monday that they are carrying out investigations in order to arrest those responsible for the death of a second lieutenant of the Air Force during an alleged assault in the Hainamosa sector, in Santo Domingo Este.
The deceased soldier was identified as Junior Reyes Chalas , 38 years old.
This is the second soldier killed in less than a week. The first was the Army member Gregorio Ramírez Pineda, 37, who, according to the National Police report, had left San Juan bound for Las Américas Airport to meet a relative who was arriving in the country, and was killed by criminals who tried to rob him of his weapon.
Regarding the death of Reyes Chalas, the spokesman for the law enforcement institution, Diego Pesqueira, indicated that they are investigating the possible causes of the incident.
A video that has been uploaded on social media suggests that the motive was a robbery.
