The video recording the scene of Ms. U. being brutally beaten and slapped by her husband is causing public outrage.
On the afternoon of June 13, a video clip taken from a home camera recording a man beating his wife was posted on social media by the victim. The victim cried out in pain, while the boy (their child) lay next to him, still playing with his smartphone, without any reaction.
The incident was determined to have occurred in Meo Vac town, Ha Giang province. When the video went viral, causing a stir in public opinion, the leaders of Meo Vac district police directed professional teams and Meo Vac town police to verify the incident.
The police announced that, according to the investigation results, the man in the video is LVB, born in 1997, a citizen of Tat Nga commune, Meo Vac district; the victim is Ms. LTU, wife of B.
Meo Vac town police summoned LVB to work, investigate and clarify and handle according to the provisions of law.
Ms. U. said that the abuse happened many times. She said that she was " haunted by the beatings that no one knew about ", " afraid that her phone would be snatched again and she wouldn't be able to tell her father in time ".
On her personal page, she also said that her husband did not share the responsibility of taking care of the children, did not pay her salary, and often beat her when she brought up financial issues in the family, or " just beat people when they are not happy ".
Ms. U. tried to be patient " to give her son a full life ", but in return, her son had to witness his parents' quarrels and his father's violent behavior.
Ms. U. also accused: " Even my child was abused. Because of my father's pinching of my ears until they turned purple, I was timid. Even though I loved my mother very much, I didn't dare speak up because I was also afraid of my father ."
