Rio – A car accident killed a woman and left four people injured at Aterro do Flamengo, in the South Zone, late Saturday morning (19).
The car carrying five people collided with a tree in one of the medians on Avenida Infante Dom Henrique, at Rua Teixeira de Freitas. Mylena Azevedo, 23, who was traveling in the passenger seat, died at the scene. According to information from the Fire Department, Letícia Moura, 26, Marcelo Cataloe, 25, Luiz Guilherme, 24, and Nicolas, 22, were injured and taken to hospitals in the region. Letícia and Marcelo were referred to the Souza Aguiar Municipal Hospital, in the Center, while Luiz Guilherme and Nicolas received care at the Miguel Couto, in Leblon. The health status of the four is stable, according to information from the Municipal Health Secretariat (SMS).
The Military Police reported that, this Saturday morning, agents from the 2nd BPM (Botafogo) went to verify the occurrence on Avenida Infante Dom Henrique, at the height of the Estácio de Sá Monument. In a note, the Civil Police reported that the 9th DP (Catete) is investigating the case.
