Gunmen whose identity is not yet known has killed an alleged commander of Ebubeagu, a militia group established by Imo state government. The victim identified as 'Ogwu' was shot in the bush after being abducted within the week. In videos circulating on social media, Ogwu, who was wearing a red shirt and trousers, was seen pleading for his life to be spared, before the assailants opened fire on him. He was dragged into a dirt pit after being confirmed dead by the gunmen.Where the incident happened in Imo State is unclear, but netizens suggest it happened in a forest in Awo-Omamma or border communities of the state and Anambra State. The incident happened after Ebubeagu officers killed 14 people returning from a wedding in Imo state, sparking outrage and protests from locals who called for the notorious security outfit to be disbanded.
