A factory worker was killed in an industrial accident after an elevator suddenly collapsed at a manufacturing facility in Gujarat, India, authorities said.

The incident occurred on the evening of May 30 at Pramukh Industries, located in the Himmatnagar GIDC industrial area of Sabarkantha district. Production activities were reportedly underway when the elevator unexpectedly gave way and fell.

The victim was identified as Devarajsinh Parmar, who was working at the factory at the time of the accident. According to officials, Parmar was positioned directly beneath the elevator when it collapsed. The falling structure struck him in the head, causing catastrophic injuries.

Witnesses said the elevator dropped without warning and with such force that the worker had no opportunity to move to safety. He became trapped beneath the wreckage as colleagues rushed to the scene after hearing a loud impact. Despite their efforts to assist him, Parmar was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident caused panic among workers at the facility, where operations had been proceeding normally just moments before the tragedy unfolded.

Police from the Himmatnagar A-Division Police Station responded to the incident and launched an investigation. Authorities have registered a case of accidental death and are examining the circumstances surrounding the elevator's collapse. Investigators are also working to determine whether any technical failure, negligence, or safety violations contributed to the incident.

The fatal accident has renewed concerns over industrial safety standards in Gujarat, where similar workplace incidents have occurred in recent years.
