A 26-year-old man was killed after being shot during a street altercation in the Tierras Blancas sector of Coquimbo, Chile.

According to authorities, the incident occurred during the early hours of the day and stemmed from a confrontation that escalated into violence. Investigators determined that the suspect, also a 26-year-old Chilean national, fired a gun at the victim in a public area, causing fatal injuries.

The victim was taken to a local emergency healthcare center with a gunshot wound to the chest but was confirmed dead upon arrival.

Police from the Homicide Brigade in La Serena, working alongside forensic teams, carried out investigative actions that led to the identification and arrest of the suspected shooter within a short period.

Authorities reported that the incident was captured on video, which has circulated on social media and is being reviewed as part of the investigation.

The suspect has been placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, while investigations continue to clarify the full circumstances surrounding the killing.

Residents in the area expressed concern, noting that this marks the second homicide reported in the neighborhood within a short period of time.
