A serious traffic accident involving multiple vehicles left three people dead and one injured on the Palín–Escuintla highway in Guatemala. The collision occurred at kilometer 53 of the CA-9 South route, a major roadway connecting the Pacific coast with Guatemala City.

Authorities confirmed that the crash involved several vehicles and resulted in three fatalities at the scene. One additional person was injured and transported to a nearby medical center for emergency treatment.

Due to the severity of the accident, authorities temporarily closed the northbound lanes of the highway while emergency teams responded and secured the area. The closure caused significant traffic disruptions, particularly for vehicles traveling from the port toward the capital.

Rescue personnel worked to free victims trapped inside the wreckage while officials coordinated traffic control and cleanup operations. Prosecutors later arrived at the scene to begin a formal investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal collision.

Officials advised drivers to avoid the affected stretch of highway and use alternative routes as emergency crews continued their work at the crash site.
