A 20-year-old man was killed after his motorcycle crashed into a Kochi Metro pillar in the Muttom area of Kochi, Kerala.

The accident occurred late at night while the victim was riding the motorcycle with a pillion passenger. Police said the rider lost control of the vehicle at a bend in the road before slamming into the metro pillar.

The rider died at the scene due to the impact. The pillion rider sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is reported to be in critical condition.

Authorities have begun an investigation into the incident and are reviewing CCTV footage to determine the exact cause of the crash, including whether speed played a role. The body of the deceased will be handed over to the family after post-mortem procedures.
