A four-year-old girl died after two loudspeakers used during Republic Day celebrations fell on her in the Vikhroli area of Mumbai on Monday morning.

The incident occurred around 11 a.m. in a lane in Tagore Nagar when the speakers, which had been placed on the ground for the event, toppled after a man’s bag became entangled in the wires.

The child, identified as Jahnvi Solkar, was playing nearby when the loudspeakers fell on her. She was rushed to a hospital by local residents but was later declared dead.

Police in Vikhroli have registered a case of death caused by negligence and launched an investigation. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and witness statements to determine whether safety measures were properly followed during the event setup.
