A tragic road accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Maharajganj district has left the local community in shock. A young man, who had been pouring water to settle roadside dust in front of a shop, was struck by a speeding car that lost control and collided with him. The impact threw him nearly 30 feet, resulting in fatal injuries. The driver fled the scene immediately after the crash.

The incident took place on the Gorakhpur–Sonauli National Highway under the jurisdiction of the Nautanwa police station. The victim, Abhishek Yadav, was a resident of Marchwari village, Municipality 1, Kotiyahwa district of Rupandehi, Nepal. He was employed at a seed store near the location where the accident occurred.

According to CCTV footage, Abhishek had arrived at work as usual on December 3 and was carrying out his routine task of sprinkling water outside the shop when the speeding vehicle struck him without warning. He was rushed to hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Abhishek’s father, Kanhaiya Yadav, said his son was the elder of his two boys and had been married for only two years. The family was notified shortly after the incident, leaving them devastated by the sudden loss.

Inspector Purushottam Rao, in-charge of Nautanwa Police Station, confirmed that the body was taken into custody for post-mortem examination and later released to the family. The driver of the vehicle has been arrested, and a case has been registered under relevant legal sections, with a challan issued as part of the proceedings.
