Uploaded On:Friday 20th of June 2025

A 24-year-old woman tragically lost her life after being struck by a northbound L train at the 14th Street–Union Square subway station in Manhattan. The incident occurred on Monday night, June 16, around 10:20 p.m.

According to witnesses, the woman stepped onto the tracks and attempted to climb back onto the platform but was unable to do so before the train approached. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:27 p.m. While some reports suggest she may have descended to the tracks to relieve herself, this has not been officially confirmed. The New York Police Department (NYPD) has stated that the incident appears to be a tragic accident with no signs of foul play.

In response to the incident, L train service between 8th Avenue and Bedford Avenue was temporarily suspended for approximately three hours. Service was later resumed, though delays persisted into the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The identity of the deceased woman has not been released, pending notification of her family. The NYPD continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
