Road rage turns violent as 29-year-old man opens fire, injuring one near Austin Bluffs Parkway - Colorado

Colorado Springs police are investigating a shooting that took place early Thursday evening along Austin Bluffs Parkway near North Academy Boulevard.

Officers were dispatched to the 4200 block of Austin Bluffs Parkway following reports of gunfire. According to surveillance footage and eyewitness statements, the incident stemmed from a road rage confrontation involving a gray Subaru and another vehicle that had allegedly cut it off near a local car meet.

One individual sustained a gunshot wound to the arm and was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police later identified the suspect as 29-year-old Michael Brodus. He was apprehended near Powers Boulevard and Briargate Parkway and is now facing first-degree assault charges.

Eastbound lanes of Austin Bluffs Parkway remained closed for nearly three hours while authorities conducted their investigation and processed the scene.
