Three killed, six injured as drunk SUV driver mows down pedestrians - India

A shocking case of drunk driving in Jaipur has left three people dead and several others seriously injured after a speeding SUV went on a rampage through the streets of the Nahargarh area on Monday night.

The horrifying incident unfolded when 62-year-old Usman Khan, a factory owner from Shastri Nagar, drove his SUV under the influence of alcohol, hitting pedestrians and vehicles over a 7-km stretch — from MI Road to the narrow lanes near the Nahargarh police station.

It all started near Santosh Mata Temple where Khan’s SUV hit a two-wheeler. Instead of stopping, he continued driving recklessly, crushing fallen victims and colliding with more people and vehicles in his path.

The nightmare ended only when the SUV got stuck in a narrow lane, allowing locals and police to catch and detain the driver on the spot.

Dipika Saini (17) Vijay Narayan (65) Jebunnisha (50) Anshika (24) Awadhesh Pareek (37) Mamta Kanwar and Awadhesh Pareek died from their injuries at the hospital, while Virendra Singh passed away the next morning.

The accused, Usman Khan, owns a factory manufacturing iron beds in the Vishwakarma Industrial Area. Medical reports confirmed he was heavily drunk during the incident.

An FIR has been registered against Khan based on a complaint by Mamta Kanwar’s father. The incident created panic and tension in the area, forcing police to deploy additional forces from four stations to maintain peace.

This tragic event has once again raised serious concerns over drunken driving and public safety in Jaipur.
