The tragic incident took place in Tiger Valley, near Valparai in the Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu, where a wild elephant attacked and killed 60-year-old German tourist Michael Jürgen.

The incident occurred while the tourist was riding a motorcycle from Pollachi to the Tiger Valley viewpoint, a popular tourist destination. According to eyewitnesses, Michael encountered a wild elephant on the road. Despite warnings from other motorists to avoid the area, he approached the elephant.
