A 14-year-old boy who was riding a bicycle was hit by a car and after flying through the air he ended up embedded head first in the vehicle’s windshield. The boy survived.
The shocking images were recorded by another driver and caused a stir due to the impressive position in which the boy was left. The brutal accident occurred at the intersection of Perón and Iturraspe avenues, in the Barranquitas neighborhood in the south of the capital of Santa Fe.
According to information provided by the personnel who worked at the scene, it has not yet been possible to establish the circumstances under which the incident occurred. However, according to witness accounts, as a result of the impact, the cyclist was violently thrown off and after turning in the air he ended up head first into the white Renault Clio.
Those who witnessed the scene immediately called the police and a few minutes later officers from the 6th Police Station arrived at the scene. However, due to the position in which the boy was left, he could not be treated and they had to wait for the firefighters and health personnel to arrive.
Finally, when the agents of the Zapadores Firefighters Group (ABZ) went to the accident area, the teenager was able to be rescued from between the glass.
The sequence was filmed by another driver who was passing by, who at first thought that due to the severity of the impact, the boy was dead.
“The patient was admitted lucid, with mild head trauma, fracture of the tibia and fibula, various abrasions and glass stuck in different parts of the body, but out of danger,” sources from the Dr. Orlando Alassia Children’s Hospital, where he was rushed, told local media. In addition, doctors noted that due to the brutality of the impact and the way the victim was left, the diagnosis is favorable.
Traffic in the area was interrupted for several hours as the specialized personnel worked to rescue the injured teenager. For its part, the only thing that has been revealed so far about the driver of the vehicle is that he is an adult man, although he has not yet been identified.
Investigators carried out work at the scene of the crash to try to clarify the circumstances of the incident. The cyclist, meanwhile, remains hospitalized.
