Marcelo Xavier de Araújo, known as Super Santa, ended up suffering a motorcycle accident and died on Estrada da Muribeca, in Recife
The stands at the Arruda Stadium are no longer home to a prominent member of the Tricolor fans. On Monday afternoon (21), Marcelo Xavier de Araújo , 54, died after suffering a motorcycle accident on Estrada da Mumbeca, in Guabiraba, north of Recife.
Marcelo was also known as Super Santa, one of the symbolic fans of Santa Cruz Futebol Clube .
"We deeply regret the death of Marcelo Cuscuz, a symbolic fan of the People's Team, who always attended Arruda dressed as Super Santa. His passion and dedication will forever be marked in the history of the club. Our condolences to his family and friends," lamented Santa Cruz, in an official statement.
The accident was caught on a security camera and happened near the Nossa Senhora de Fátima Cemetery and the Sherwood Motel. In the video, it is possible to see that Marcelo loses control of the motorcycle shortly after passing over the speed bump and crashes head-on into a wall.
According to witnesses, accidents are common in that location, as there is no signage and there is no pedestrian crossing.
The absence of this lane makes it difficult for residents, especially students, to cross the road, as there is a school right in front of the accident site.
Marcelo is listed as one of Santa Cruz's famous fans on the club's official website . The Tricolor is alongside characters such as Jesus Tricolor, Bacalhau, Chico da Cobra, Mazinho da Buzina, among others.
"What Marcelo Xavier de Araújo wants is just to play and make people laugh, so much so that he defines himself as a comedian when he wears the Super Santa uniform", he says on the official Cobra Coral website.
