Uploaded On:Friday 9th of August 2024

A small plane crashed this Friday into a warehouse of the Air Liquide factory, located near Presidente Perón 7600, in the western area of Rosario.

The pilot died on the spot and there was a joint operation between the Police, Zapadores Firefighters and Civil Defense to evacuate the entire plant and a neighboring company due to the risk of explosion due to the oxygen and nitrogen tubes that were at the place where the incident took place.

Testimonies given to local media reported that minutes before 12 noon they saw the aircraft flying “very low” , which hit part of the roof of a shed and the ground of the place. As a result of the incident, the staff of Air Liquide and a paint factory located next door were evacuated.

Prosecutor Mariela Oliva from the Road Accident and Wrongful Homicide Agency was present at the scene and ordered the commission of the accident investigation department, the taking of testimonies and the survey of video surveillance cameras from the entire area.

Unofficially, sources involved in the operation indicated that the pilot died on the spot. They added that he was a young man who had been dismissed from Air Liquide three months ago.

"It hit a concrete column and part of the tank. Everything is now under control," a firefighter in charge of the procedure said. Air Liquide is a multinational company specialising in “gases, technologies and services for industry and health,” according to its website. Due to the characteristics of the products themselves, the emergency services had to evacuate all personnel.

“ Any risk of explosion has been ruled out. The company and the surrounding areas have been evacuated. There are about five fire brigade teams working inside and outside the affected plant. The plane has an inscription from the Rosario Aeroclub. Apart from the pilot, there are no injuries. This happened close to the oxygen tanks, it is a miracle,” explained Daniel Acosta, head of the Rosario Police, to Cadena 3 .

The Comprehensive Health Emergency Service (SIES), the Fire Department and the Santa Fe Police are involved.
