In a chilling incident, a young woman was brutally murdered by a man who mistook her for his ex-girlfriend in a paying guest (PG) accommodation in Koramangala, Bengaluru. The accused, Abhishek, had been searching for his former lover and mistakenly attacked the wrong person, Kriti Kumari, a 24-year-old from Bihar.
The gruesome murder occurred on the third floor of the PG between 11:10 to 11:30 PM when Abhishek, armed with a knife, entered the building and attacked Kriti. The police were called to the scene, and South East Division DCP Sara Fatima along with Koramangala Police inspected the crime scene. The investigation revealed that Abhishek had no personal connection with Kriti, and the attack was a result of a tragic misunderstanding.
According to reports, Abhishek, the accused, hails from Bhopal and had previously been in a relationship with a woman who had moved into the same PG after their breakup, according to reports. However, Abhishek's frequent visits to Bengaluru and false claims about having secured a job in the city led to his girlfriend distancing herself from him.
In an attempt to reconcile, Abhishek's girlfriend asked her friend Kriti to help her by moving into her PG for safety. On the fateful night, Abhishek, still seething with anger and hurt, went to confront his girlfriend at the PG. However, when he arrived, he found Kriti instead and mistakenly attacked her. The police are now searching for Abhishek, who fled the scene after committing the crime.
The incident has highlighted significant security lapses at the PG, prompting calls for better safety measures in such accommodations. The case has been registered at Koramangala police station, and an investigation is underway to apprehend Abhishek and bring him to justice.
