Two electrocuted to death after stepping in a puddle that had a hidden faulty live wire - Turkey

İnanç Öktemay, who lost his life after being electrocuted while trying to help his friend Özge Ceren Deniz, who fell to the ground while trying to cross the road in the rain in the Konak district of İzmir, was sent off on his final journey amid tears. The cries of mother Nevin Öktemay at the funeral were heartbreaking. Mother Nevin Öktemay said, "My son did not deserve to die at a young age."

The incident occurred yesterday in the Alsancak district of Konak. While the heavy rainfall in the city turned the streets and avenues into lakes, Özge Ceren Deniz (23) and İnanç Öktemay (44) were caught in the rain. Özge Ceren Deniz and İnanç Öktemay, who wanted to cross the puddle on the road, lost their lives after being electrocuted in the water.

Security camera footage of the moment when Özge Ceren Deniz and İnanç Öktemay lost their lives has emerged. The footage shows 23-year-old Özge Ceren Deniz trying to cross the road and falling into the current at the point where the grate is located, while her friend İnanç Öktemay was also caught in the current while trying to help. The footage also shows local shopkeepers trying to help.

The body of İnanç Öktemay, who lost his life, was brought to the Yeniyol Mosque in the Buca district. The painful cries of mother Nevin Öktemay never stopped during the funeral. Mother Nevin Öktemay said, "My son did not deserve to die at such a young age.

My son was just about to wear a wedding suit, they died holding hands. I had both a mother and a father and raised him under difficult conditions." Öktemay's body was laid to rest in the Buca district after the funeral prayer performed after the afternoon prayer. In addition to Öktemay's family, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay, Konak Mayor Nilüfer Çınar Mutlu, his uncle and Pamukkale Mayor Ali Rıza Ertemur, friends and relatives attended the funeral.
