The cries of mother Nevin Öktemay at the funeral were heartbreaking. Mother Nevin Öktemay said, "My son did not deserve to die at a young age."

While the heavy rainfall in the city turned the streets and avenues into lakes, Özge Ceren Deniz (23) and İnanç Öktemay (44) were caught in the rain. The body of İnanç Öktemay, who lost his life, was brought to the Yeniyol Mosque in the Buca district. The painful cries of mother Nevin Öktemay never stopped during the funeral. Mother Nevin Öktemay said, "My son did not deserve to die at such a young age.

My son was just about to wear a wedding suit, they died holding hands. I had both a mother and a father and raised him under difficult conditions." Öktemay's body was laid to rest in the Buca district after the funeral prayer performed after the afternoon prayer. In addition to Öktemay's family, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay, Konak Mayor Nilüfer Çınar Mutlu, his uncle and Pamukkale Mayor Ali Rıza Ertemur, friends and relatives attended the funeral.
