A cyclist who was on the footbridge at the time of the accident was injured. The driver was cited, fined, and the cargo will be seized.

A trailer carrying a tractor on the back crashed and collapsed a footbridge at km 149 of BR-101, in the central region of Linhares , North of Espírito Santo, on Wednesday night (7), around 9pm. With the impact of the crash, the structure fell to the ground. A cyclist who was on the footbridge at the time of the accident and fell. The highway was completely closed and one lane was reopened this Thursday morning (8).

Eco101, the concessionaire that manages the road, explained that teams are working to remove the structures to safely open the lanes.

According to the first information from TV Gazeta , the truck had a load above the permitted limit, which is 5.5 meters in height. The driver took a breathalyzer test and it was negative. He was fined for excessive dimensions (vehicle and cargo), loses 5 points and will pay R$195.23.

A cyclist was passing by the structure when the backhoe crashed. Eco101 confirmed that one person was taken to a hospital in the region with injuries. The man had injuries to his legs and head.

In the security camera images, it is possible to see when the boom of the backhoe in front hits the construction, taking the entire walkway to the ground (see video above). The vehicle was also carrying another machine. In the opposite direction, a trailer was also hit by the walkway.

Because of the accident, traffic is already stopped up to the Giant Buddha region of Ibiraçu for those heading towards Vitória - Linhares. Traffic is already open in the opposite direction.

The mayor of Linhares, Bruno Marianelli, informed, through a publication on a social network, that the entire structure of the municipality's central administration is at the disposal of the PRF.

Eco101 highlighted that ambulance cars, a tow truck and an inspection vehicle were on site to respond to the incident. The Fire Department and the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu/192) also respond to the incident.

Early Thursday morning (8) most of the structure that was lying on the track had already been removed. The truck had left Serra, in Greater Vitória and was heading to Eunápolis, in Bahia.

The company Serranalog Transportes LTDA regretted the accident that occurred on Wednesday night (7), in Linhares, whose cargo was destined for the city of Eunápolis (BA).

The company said that it is still analyzing the facts and seeking clarification regarding what happened, so that it can take the appropriate measures. "However, it reaffirms its commitment to the services provided, and that the fleet's vehicles and drivers comply with the traffic and safety standards imposed by legislation, so that the transportation of the equipment was regular", he released in a note.

The company also said that it sympathizes with the local population and the injured person, to whom it is already providing appropriate assistance.
