A video shows the moment in which an off-duty military police officer punches his wife five times in the face and then pulls out his gun and shoots her three times after arguing in a car, in the North Zone of São Paulo (see video above and photos below) . Soldier Thiago Cesar de Lima was arrested red-handed by the Military Police (PM) for the murder of Erika Satelis Ferreira de Lima . She was hit in the chest by two of the shots.

The case was registered on Sunday (3) as feminicide at the 4th Women's Defense Police Station (DDM) North. Thiago, 36 years old, was taken to the Romão Gomes Prison , owned by the PM, which is in the region. Erika was 33 years old and had been married to Thiago for six months. She leaves behind two daughters from a previous relationship.

Since March 9, 2015, legislation has provided for more serious penalties for homicides that meet the definition of feminicide - that is, that involve "domestic and family violence and/or disparagement or discrimination against the status of women". The most common cases of these murders occur for reasons such as separation.

Then, Erika exits through the driver's door, goes around the vehicle and opens the back door. In the back seat is Thiago. She tries to get him out of there, but she can't. They both get out of the car and start arguing outside.

Thiago appears throwing a series of punches at Erika's face. Then he shoots her. The woman staggers and hits her head on the trunk, falling to the ground. The soldier gets into the car and accelerates the vehicle, but then returns and drags her to the vehicle. Meanwhile, residents come out of their homes to find out what happened on the street. The scenes, which are circulating on social media, are under analysis by the Civil Police, which is investigating the case.

The man took the victim to a hospital in the region, the Taipas Emergency Room, where her death was confirmed. According to the case report, he confessed to having shot his wife after an argument. He claimed that she had tried to grab his gun and therefore shot her. But that's not what the images show.

The military police officer's .40 caliber Glock pistol was seized for forensic examination. The PM's Internal Affairs Department was called to investigate Thiago's conduct. He will also face criminal charges at the Civil Police.

The court ordered the PM's preventive detention. “The accused remained silent during most of his interrogation”, stated the head delegate of the 4th DDM, Marina Cerqueira.
