Worker was crushed to death by faulty elevator in Aktau, Kazakhstan

In Aktau, an elevator fell and crushed a 34-year-old man to death. The tragedy occurred tonight in one of the buildings in the 3rd microdistrict, NUR.KZ reports with reference to the Mangystau Region Police Department.

As the press service of the department told a NUR.KZ correspondent, on October 24 at 01.10 at night in one of the buildings located in the 3rd microdistrict of Aktau, an elevator fell on a 34-year-old man. He died.

This fact was registered in the ERDR of the city police department under Article 156, Part 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. An examination has been ordered. An investigation is underway.

“Other information is not disclosed in the interests of the investigation,” explained the Mangystau Region Police Department.

Let us add that, according to Article 156 Part 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a violation of safety rules, industrial sanitation or other labor protection rules, committed by a person who had responsibilities for organizing or ensuring compliance with these rules, resulting through negligence in causing moderate harm to health, resulting in the death of a person by negligence is punishable by restriction of freedom for a term of up to five years or imprisonment for the same term, with or without deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years.
